HI Again! Yes, this is very helpful for us to know how you are personally creating your stuff! For mobile video..those of us w/ non jail broken iphones are kinda out of luck...perhaps you can find us Iphone users w/ non webcam enabled laptops something for in the moment video...that would be awesome.

BTW, my mom was born in Oahu :)

in their own ways yes. the windows mobile OS is more mature (it's been around for years)... but the iPhone is more fun, pretty looking and popular.

okay.. I guess it's time for a side-by-side...

iPhone (fun, popular, exciting)
pros
- nice hardware design
- comfortable feel
- UI (user interface) is nice and intuitive (feels fun); multi-touch
- visual voicemail
- iTunes integration
- lot's of applications available
- two batteries (one for cell, one for pda)

cons
- popular (more likely chance of getting stolen)
- limited ways to store files and information on it; it's locked down
- limited storage capacity
- locked to cell carrier (at&t); can't use on other carriers
- no video recording
- apple has been slow to offer mature features that others have now (copy/paste, 3G, etc)
- sdk only for macs; and development is limited in general
- cannot change battery (no spare battery options)
- cannot use external memory
- bluetooth is mono (no BT stereo)
- gps is not real-time; pseudo-real-time
- to open up / extend abilities, you have to "crack it" (aka "jail break"); which invalidates warranty
- can't use a stylus

Windows Mobile (work, professional)
pros
- lot's of hardware offerings (more choices, more styles, etc)
+ better cameras
+ swappable batteries
+ swappable external memory
+ physical keyboard (optional; not all hardware has this)
- multiple on-screen input/keyboard options
+ on-screen keyboards are modular (can build/buy/add your own)
+ hand-writing recognition
+ script-recognition (i.e. newton/palm graffiti short-hand)
- UI (user interface) is fair and intuitive enough
- UI is highly customizable (lot's of apps to do this)
- UI can be improved now, no waiting for vendor updates
- supports video
- lot's of applications available (mostly professional)
- integrates better into day-to-day work environments/uses (lot's of apps for this)
- real-time GPS options
- no limitations with using phone as a storage device
- bluetooth stereo capable (depends on the hardware)
- comprehensive programing software available
- less popular device to steal

cons:
- lot's of hardware offerings (physical pda/phone quality varies)
- most of the software available is business related (average price is greater then $10.00)
- UI was not as exciting to use until the recent iPhone competition
- UI is highly customizable (to many options at times can make your phones look like a myspace page)
- active sync support is weak for macs (can be rectified with 3rd party software)
- no visual voicemail
- programming for the WM platform I limited to windows (I believe, mono on mac might be able to compile WM; I'm not sure)

the bottom line, iPhones definitely feel cooler. but I'm not sure they really are better. I think overall the phone you choose should come down to your lifestyle, and cell carrier you prefer.

Hi, mobile phones (smartphones to be specific) exist beyond iPhone and Windows Mobile platform. I understand your point that both platform offer promising tools and stable services. But I guess what Sukhjit is trying out list of services which can be used by variety of regular multimedia mobile phones. -Sukhjit correct me if I am wrong.

Alan! There will be a time when I upgrade! For now, I don't mind making the most out of my old phone. It's all part of living on a budget! I must admit I am swayed by the HTC ads. I've told you that, though. =)

So, let me get this straight... you think the iPhone and Windows Mobile are equally as cool? Hmm... ?
